Eliza Fletcher, a Tennessee school teacher, is missing after she was forcibly abducted during an early morning jog Friday, police say.

Eliza Fletcher is 34 years old.

Authorities say a woman is missing after being abducted off the streets of Memphis, Tenn., during an early morning jog Friday.

According to police, Eliza Fletcher was forced into a dark-coloured SUV by an unknown individual near the University of Memphis at about 4:20 a.m. on Central Avenue and Zach Curlin Street.

WHBQ-TV reports Fletcher is a teacher at St. Mary’s Episcopal School and that she regularly runs in the area of the university.

In a letter from the outlet, St. Mary’s Head of School Albert Throckmorton confirmed Fletcher was kidnapped.

“We have not told our younger students about Mrs Fletcher,” the letter reads. “We support the older students as they learn the news.”

Police said Fletcher was last captured on surveillance video wearing a pink sports top, blue shorts, and tennis shoes before she was abducted.

An image of the suspect vehicle was also released.

Fletcher is white, standing 5 feet 6 inches, and weighing approximately 137 lbs, with brown hair and green eyes.

Police ask anyone who spots her or the suspect vehicle to call 911 immediately.

The MPD can also be reached at 901-545-COPS.

The FBI and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are also assisting with locating Fletcher.

A body found in a Memphis neighbourhood Monday was confirmed to be a Tennessee woman who was abducted late last week, police said Tuesday. Eliza Fletcher, 34, was seen on surveillance video being forced into an SUV while she was jogging near the University of Memphis early Friday morning.

The suspect arrested in the case, 38-year-old Cleotha Abston, is being charged with first-degree murder and first-degree murder in perpetration of kidnapping, police said.

Abston appeared before a judge Tuesday morning on charges of kidnapping, tampering with evidence, theft, identity theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. Relatives of Fletcher and more than 20 media members were in the courtroom.

A cause of death has been determined for the Tennessee kindergarten teacher whose body was found earlier this month after she was kidnapped during her morning jog.

West Tennessee Regional Forensic Center in Memphis found that Eliza Fletcher, 34, died of a gunshot wound to the back of the head, and she also suffered jaw fractures and blunt force injuries to her right leg, according to the Associated Press.

  1. If she were my wife (God forbid), this kidnapper freak would within under 96 hours be bound and gagged in my basement, being tortured and mutilated both physically and sexually, beyond recognition; my wife would be safe again in my arms in under 96 hours. Even Jigsaw would puke at the sight of what I would do to him. To the freak who kidnapped her: Be careful who you kidnap, you freak. Return this woman unharmed to her family. I sure hope her husband has the balls and stomach to do to you what I would do to you. And no, I would not allow myself to be arrested for it because #3%
